Emely Veiby first worked with Jewels at Westside Ballet, through the Santa Monica College Public Policy Institute, from March 2022 to June 2023.
She tracked the press coverage and researched the policy. Her project there examined how the war in Ukraine was reshaping the international ballet community, and what it meant for arts policy. Work that required synthesising complex geopolitical information and analysing policy impacts across multiple jurisdictions, and that went on to inform real decisions about guest artist programming and community outreach. Her method was the one good research runs on: Google Alerts, industry publications and news sources reviewed systematically, sources verified, findings organised chronologically and thematically. Alongside it she drafted correspondence for donor outreach, developed presentation materials for stakeholder meetings, and served as a primary liaison at the International Women's Day collaboration with the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, representing the organisation to business leaders and city officials.
A political science graduate of UC Santa Barbara, Emely is preparing for law school. At out of the bleu she builds the media lists and tracks the placements: the record of what a client's story is actually doing out in the world.
